Get Minecraft

You need Minecraft: Java Edition. This is the one thing people get wrong. Bedrock Edition, which is what comes on consoles, phones and the Microsoft Store version of Windows, cannot connect to this server at all. They are different games that happen to share a name.

Buy and download it from minecraft.net, then install the launcher from the official download page. Works on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Open the launcher and check the version. In Installations, make a new one set to release 26.2. If you join on the wrong version the server will turn you away and tell you which one it wants.

Join the server

Launch Minecraft on 26.2 and click Multiplayer from the title screen.

Click Add Server. Server Name can be anything you like, it is only a label for your own list.

In Server Address put mc.pcdev.info and nothing else. No port, no colon, no numbers after it. The port is handled for you automatically.

Click Done, then double-click the server in the list. You should see a green connection bar. If it says it cannot resolve the host, wait a minute and try again, as your router may still be holding an old DNS answer.

Proximity voice chat

Optional, but you have to install it yourself

The server runs Simple Voice Chat, so you can talk to people near you and hear them fade out as they walk away. It is not part of Minecraft and it is not something the server can push to you. If you skip this you can still play normally, you just will not hear or be heard.

Install a mod loader. Vanilla Minecraft cannot load mods on its own. Fabric is the easiest and the one we would pick. Run the installer, choose 26.2, and click Install. Forge, NeoForge and Quilt all work too if you already use one.

Download the mod. Get it from Modrinth. On the Versions tab, pick the file that matches both your loader and Minecraft 26.2. A Forge file will not load under Fabric, and a file for the wrong game version will not load at all. Simple Voice Chat downloads → modrinth.com

Grab its dependency. The Fabric build also needs Fabric API, matched to 26.2 the same way. Modrinth lists required dependencies on the version page, so check there before you download and save yourself a crash on startup.

Drop the .jar files into your mods folder. Do not unzip them. If the folder is not there, make it.

Windows%appdata%\.minecraft\mods
macOS~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods
Linux~/.minecraft/mods

Launch on the modded profile. Back in the launcher, pick the fabric-loader-26.2 installation rather than the plain one. Launching vanilla by accident is the usual reason people say the mod did nothing.

Set it up in game. Join the server and press V to open the voice chat guide. It walks you through picking a microphone and speaker, choosing between push to talk and voice activation, setting your push to talk key, and tuning your mic sensitivity.

On macOS you also have to allow Minecraft to use the microphone, in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Microphone. If your mic is dead and the mod looks fine, this is nearly always why.

Full documentation, including troubleshooting, is at the Simple Voice Chat wiki.

Ranks

[MEMBER] Everyone, automatically [VIP] Given by staff [MANAGER] Managers [PM] Project managers [DEV] Developers

You get MEMBER the first time you join, nothing to ask for. It is a tag and nothing else, no perks and no permissions, so everyone shows up as someone rather than a bare name. VIP is handed out by staff.

House rules

01 No griefing and no stealing. Spawn is protected, the rest of the map runs on trust.

02 PvP is on, but not at spawn and not on people who want no part of it.

03 No hacked clients, x-ray or duping.

04 Keep chat civil. It is filtered, and staff read it.

05 Build somewhere sensible. Do not wall in someone else's base or block their view.
